Keeping Up with Castle: Season 7, Episode 9 “Last Action Hero”

It’s time for my favorite show people. My all-time fantasy is that I am the star of Castle. Let’s see what case they have to work on this week.

Last Action Hero

This episode title makes me think about Last Action Hero (1993) with Arnold Schwarzenegger. We look like we are on a main strip in downtown. A theater employee is taking out the trash when he finds Lance DeLorca, an action hero.
Beckett and Castle are packing up Beckett’s apartment. Castle makes reference to being happy to leave the apartment. Beckett seems a little hurt by this. They are called to the case of DeLorca’s murder. Castle recognizes him right away. DeLorca was an 80 movies action star. He gave up acting because of Leukemia. Laney can tell he fought before he died but a garrote is what killed him. Castle informs the others that Lance was a member of the Spanish Intelligent Agency before becoming an actor. Castle plays one of his movies, Hard Kill for Ryan and Espo. Beckett catches them. Lance came to town two weeks before. Castle is a major fan of Cat Kingsley. Becket is going to question her. Beckett seems a tiny bit jealous. She makes him sit out the interrogation. Lance was staring in the next Indestructible movie.

They go to the movie set. Castle is in heaven and Beckett is bored. Brock Harmon is the one that brought Lance in on the movie. He thought Lance left town after shooting his part in the movie. When they tell him he was strangled with a garrote. Harmon said that was his signature when he was in SNI. The day he died he called Interpol to Enrique Gomez. Gates finds out Gomez is in town for a UN meeting. Lance never went to the airport but a cheap hotel. Ryan and Espo go through Lance’s personal belongings. Ryan is trying to come up with his own catch phrase. Lance has USB, blue paint, building schematics, stickers and soldering iron. They think he was building a listening device. He also has Trey’s number, Harmon’s son.

Harmon asked Trey about the club scene. Trey refused to tell him because he was a sober former drug addict. Castle thinks he’s on a mission to take out a threat from his past. He thinks he was taken out by a younger operative. They have a hotel photo of a blonde woman that came to see him. Gomez comes in. They were school hood children. Lance wanted a body guard. Gomez tells them Lance wasn’t SNI, He used Gomez’s story to build his reputation as an actor. Castle is heartbroken the guy used to be a goat herder. They find out the blonde at the hotel was Lance’s soon to be ex-wife Cat. Beckett brings her in for more questioning. Castle and the guys are watching on the other side of the glass. Castle has a poster he wants signed. Cat and Lance were fighting over a house in Malibu. She was at the hotel to buy Lance’s half of the house for $200,000. Shelater fled the crime scene because he called her telling her guys were following him. She found him dead. Castle doesn’t believe she is the killer. Lol, Beckett knows about his poster.

Beckett and Laney are back at her old place. Its where she rebuilt her life, solved her mother’s murder, and fell in love with Castle. The next day, the boys find video of Lance taking down four assailants. Castle is thoroughly impressed. He has some skills for an non-SNI actor. Castle is loving that video, lol. There is still the $200,000 and listening device. Turns out, one of the guy working on the movie is one of the guys that tried to jump Lance. He was the body guard. Lance met someone at a club with a briefcase. Lance was accused of wearing a wire and the bodyguard was knocked out. The drug dealer from Hard Kill is thought by narcotics to have become a real drug dealer. Mr. Booth owns a club and collects model cars. He says Lance didn’t have a suitcase. Beckett figures out there is a collectable car listening device is the reason Lance met with Booth. Beckett talks to Harmon again to see if he knows anything. Harmon invites Castle out for a drink with Indestructible actors.

They don’t really go out for drinks. They are going to steal the recording device. I just love Castle’s relationship with Beckett. He was jumping around excited not knowing what to wear. Castle is so loveable. Castle knows Beckett is going to kill him when she finds out what he did. They walk in like the being of an action movie. And Castle is skittish, I just love this show. Three of them are set to distract Booth. Castle and Harmon are going after the slot car. They get into the office. Harmon and Castle are trapped in the office when Booth comes back in. The woman on the team pulls the fire alarm and everyone escapes. Smh, I love Castle. When they plug is up, Beckett won’t let Castle listen to it as punishment for his criminal act.

Beckett calls Trey in. Booth invested seed money to make him a promoter. Booth forced him into selling drugs in the clubs. He didn’t have $200,000 to pay back. Lance wanted to fix it. Booth called Trey to have him take care of Lance after his men couldn’t do the job. Trey freaked and called his mom and he thought Booth’s guys got to him. Trey alibis out. Lance started wanting to help him after his cancer. Ryan discovered Lance found out Trey was his son.

They go to see his mother. She and Lance had an affair behind Harmon’s back. She killed him with wire she used for her jewelry. Narcotics arrested Booth because Trey decided to testify against him. Beckett suggests they watch Hard Kill in his honor. Castle and his whip, lol, I love it. Beckett goes to say goodbye to her apartment. She carves her initials in some wood. I just love this show. It makes me smile.

So until next episode…
